XBOX 360: replace hard drive - a guide
If your current XBOX-360 hard drive is too small, you should exchange it to make room for games and multimedia files. In this practical tip we show you how it's done.
Original XBOX 360: install hard disk
If you want to replace the hard drive of your original XBOX 360, you have to proceed as follows (you can find pictures in the picture gallery):
- Turn off the console.
- Place the XBOX 360 upright so that the hard drive is on top.
- Press the hard drive release button and lift the hard drive out of the console.
- Take the new hard drive and hook the back into the back of the hard drive bay.
- You can now press the other side of the hard drive down until it clicks into place.
XBOX 360 E: Change hard disk
To replace the hard drive of your XBOX 360 E with another hard drive, follow the steps below:
- First turn off the console.
- Then lay the console down.
- The hard drive release is located on the right side of the rear console.
- Slide it diagonally down to the front of the console and pull the hard drive cover.
- To remove the hard drive, you must now pull the hard drive out by the strip.
- Then insert the new hard disk.
- Finally, you have to replace the hard disk cover.
XBOX 360 S: replace hard disk
If you want to replace the hard drive of your XBOX 360 S, it works almost exactly like the XBOX 360 E. There is only a small difference in the hard drive cover.
- The release is located in the middle on the right side of the console.
- Move it to the front of the console while pulling on the hard drive cover.
