Record Xbox gameplay - so it'll work
Whether for Let's Plays, tutorials or just for friends - there are many reasons to record gameplay on Xbox. We'll show you what you need to consider in general.
Record Xbox gameplay with external hardware
The easiest way to record gameplays is with external recording modules. They save everything you see on your TV as video on a computer. With the "Roxio Game Capture", the "AVerMedia DarkCrystal HD Station" and the "Elgato Game Capture HD" you have several top devices to choose from. Nevertheless, you proceed similarly for all products. We will explain to you exactly what you have to consider using the "Elgato Game Capture HD":
- Connect your Xbox to the "HDMI IN" socket on the Elgato using an HDMI cable. Connect the HDMI cable of your TV to the "HDMI OUT" socket of the Elgato.
- Finally, connect the USB cable to your PC or Mac. The connection between Xbox 360 and PC is already established.
Xbox: Save Let's Play videos
To save your Xbox recordings, you need a PC or Mac and the free "Game Capture HD" software from Elgato. You can find similar programs for the other devices on the manufacturer's website.
- Start your Xbox, TV, and Capture program.
- Your Elgato recording card should now appear under "Devices". Click on the small tool icon to open the settings.
- Select your Xbox as the input device. You can then determine the quality of your videos. The higher the quality, the larger the video recordings.
- With the Elgato software you can edit your game captures directly and upload them to internet platforms such as YouTube or Facebook. To do this, click on the "Edit" tab.
