Xbox doesn't load DVD - what to do?
If your Xbox no longer loads the DVDs, both minor and major errors can be to blame for the DVD and Xbox. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Xbox doesn't load DVD - you can
- DVD: Insert another DVD to check if the problem is with your Xbox or DVD.
- Cleaning: If the problem is with the DVD, clean it carefully - preferably with a microfiber cloth. In many cases you can fix the DVD with a little trick. If the Xbox is to blame, you can also repair the drive.
- DVD region: Some DVDs are only approved for certain regions. For example, if you bought the Xbox in the United States, but the DVD comes from Europe or Asia, it can cause problems. Check that your Xbox has the same regional code as the one on the DVD.
- Orientation: Be sure to place the Xbox horizontally, i.e. flat. If the device is upright, this will damage the drive.
Xbox doesn't load DVD - replacement or warranty?
If your Xbox is still no longer reading DVDs, you cannot avoid repairing or replacing it.
- Warranty: If you bought the Xbox less than 2 years ago, you are still under the warranty period. Visit the Microsoft website for more information on how to request a repair.
- Repair: Outside the warranty period, you have to pay for the repair yourself. Since this involves a deep intervention in the device, you should not carry it out yourself, but rather hire a specialist. The average cost is around 40 to 60 euros.
