Xbox Live: MTU error - you can do that
If Xbox Live shows an MTU error, you cannot play games online in multiplayer. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Xbox Live: How to fix the MTU error
- Xbox: Press and hold the power button on the Xbox for about 5 seconds. Then the console switches off completely.
- Power: Now take both your router and the Xbox off the power for about 30 seconds. You can then plug the devices back in.
- Headset: If you use a Bluetooth headset, disconnect the headset and Xbox. These devices often cause an MTU error.
- WLAN: If the WLAN signal is too weak, the error can also occur. Look for sources of interference and increase the WiFi range if necessary.
- Frequency: Most routers operate at 20 MHz. Newer routers can also transmit on a frequency of 40 MHz. If this is the case for you, change the frequency to 20 MHz, so the Xbox can cope better.
- WLAN: The WLAN standard can also be decisive. According to Microsoft, the Xbox works best with the WLAN standard 802.11g. You can set this in the settings of your router.
