XBOX One 4K: is the XBOX 4K capable?
If you want to display content in UHD on Xbox One, this is only possible in certain areas. We'll show you when the Xbox is 4K capable and when it's not.
Xbox One with 4K - does that work?
- The normal Xbox One is unfortunately not 4K capable. Since an update from 2015, Xbox One has been able to play 4K content, for example via the apps from Netflix and YouTube, but the resolution on the TV is still a maximum of 1080p.
- At the end of 2016, Xbox One received another UHD update. This time, the update is aimed at the Blu-Ray player in Xbox One. Blu-Rays in 4K can still not be played, but normal Blu-Rays are now scaled up on 4K TVs.
- To get UHD fully on the Xbox, you have to use the newer Xbox One S. The improved version is 4K capable, but quite a few games and apps still support UHD resolution.
In the next practical tip, we'll show you how to install Kodi on Xbox One S and watch 4K videos with it.
