If your XBOX One no longer recognizes a controller, this is mostly due to the controller and not the console. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
XBOX One: Wireless controller is not recognized
At the top of the XBOX controller you will find the small connection button. Carry out the following steps and then always press the button to establish the connection.
- Usually the battery is empty or only very weak when there is no connection. Connect the controller to the console via cable to charge it.
- The battery may also fail after a few years. Open the compartment on the back of the controller and change the battery or use two AA batteries.
- If you are several meters away from the console, reduce the distance. You can remove yourself after the connection.
- If you have already connected 8 controllers to your XBOX One, you must first switch off another controller.

- Phones or routers can interfere with the connection between the XBOX One and the controller. Even metallic objects should not be in the immediate vicinity of the devices.
- Take your Xbox completely off the power. Remove all plugs and wait a minute. Small errors in the buffer are deleted in this way.
- Also remove all external devices such as headsets or an external hard drive.
- If that doesn't help, try a controller update. We show you how this works in this practical tip.
- As a last resort, you can reset Xbox One to factory settings.
