XBOX One: Connect headphones - so it'll work
By connecting headphones to Xbox One, you can communicate with your friends in game and chat, or just turn down the volume in the room. We'll show you how it's done.
Connect headphones to Xbox One
- From July 2015, Microsoft will deliver the Xbox One with a new controller. This has a jack socket for headphones integrated on the bottom. Here, however, only the headsets approved by Microsoft for sound and microphone work. The sound can often be heard with other headphones.
- The older Xbox One controllers require an additional adapter, the Microsoft Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter. This adapter can only be connected to original Xbox One wireless controllers. If you use an alternative controller, a connection is not possible.
- If you only want to hear the sound through your headphones and not use a headset, the connection also works directly via the TV. Almost every modern television has an audio connection for headphones.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to update the Xbox One controller.
