XBOX One: power consumption in operation and standby
A game console like the Xbox One is not only expensive to buy, but also in terms of power consumption. We show you how much power the device consumes in operation and in standby.
Overview of Xbox One power consumption
- Xbox One currently consumes around 15 watts per hour in standby mode. Microsoft has reduced this value considerably since its release, but the Xbox One is relatively poor compared to the PS4 or Wii U.
- On average, half of the energy consumption should be in standby mode. The consumption is so high here that the Xbox One can load updates in the background and is always ready for voice control.
- If you want to save electricity and you can do without these functions of the Xbox One, it is worth activating the energy-saving mode. The Xbox One then only consumes less than one watt per hour. According to estimates, around 5 to 25 euros can be saved each year.
- In other areas, however, the Xbox One also works more efficiently than the PlayStation 4. When switched off, only around 0.2 watts flow, around 70 watts when idling and around 120 watts when playing.
