XCOM 2: All classes at a glance
In this overview you will find all the classes that you can use in "XCOM 2" to counteract the threat of aliens. So you can put together teams from four classes in each battle. You can find out what these are and what their strengths are in the following article.
XCOM 2 classes: the ranger for close combat
In contrast to its predecessor, the Ranger in XCOM 2 is a class that is also suitable for close combat.
- As a primary weapon, the ranger has a normal shotgun or assault rifle that does a lot of damage as usual.
- But the second weapon is much more exciting here: a sword. The ranger is not afraid of a melee situation with an alien.
- Another advantage of the sword is that you don't have to worry about ammunition with it.
- The ranger is also a classic supporter.
- Since his movement speed is higher than that of the other classes, the ranger can start surprise attacks or clear enemy territory.
XCOM 2 Classes: The sniper for long range combat
The sniper is characterized by his two specializations:
- Gunslinger: With the "Shot Series" ability, you can fire three shots at your target one after the other with the pistol. Doing so will do a lot of damage.
- Sniper: The sniper is particularly interesting for long-range combat. After you've eliminated an enemy beneath you, you can take an additional action with the Death From Above skill.
XCOM 2 - Classes: Do surface damage with the grenadier
There are also two specializations for the Grenadier that have a strong influence on the way they play.
- At the beginning, the grenadier is equipped with a heavy weapon and a grenade launcher. Later there are two specializations:
- Explosives expert: This gives the soldier powerful area attacks as a grenadier. This is particularly worthwhile when there are many enemies in a confined space. In addition, you can use the heavy weapon and grenades with the "Salve" skill without ending the round.
- Heavy Gunner: This specialization focuses on the heavy weapons of the Grenadier. With the Rupture ability, you deal even more damage in follow-up attacks. You can also use the "Shred" skill to destroy enemy armor more effectively.
XCOM 2 - classes: the technician class specialist
In contrast to the other classes, the specialist, with his technical know-how, tends to use passive skills.
- The specialist is a new class in XCOM and can hack terminals and guns.
- For this purpose, the specialist sends an unmanned drone called "Gremlin" into battle. This can either attack the enemy directly or hack enemy technology that then automatically fights on the soldiers' side.
- If you use the drone, the action of the specialist for the corresponding round is used up.
- On the one hand, you can train the specialist to become a supporter. Then the specialist primarily strengthens the skills of the other soldiers.
- Alternatively, you can develop its technical strengths to act aggressively.
