Connect Xperia Z2 to TV via HDMI - how it works
The Sony Xperia Z2 has a so-called MHL interface, which enables you to connect the device to your TV via HDMI. So you can transfer all screen contents to your TV. You can find out how this works in this practical tip.
MHL adapter: Connect Xperia Z2 to TV
The new generation of wired audio and video transmission is called MHL 3.0. The Sony Xperia Z2 is one of the first devices to be equipped with this standard. It can also be used to transmit high-resolution 4K content on a 4K television using various cables. That's how it's done:
- First you need an MHL adapter to output the signal of your cell phone in HDMI. The adapters only work with a power supply, here the micro USB charging cable of your phone is suitable. You also need an HDMI cable that you plug into the TV.
- First connect the adapter to your Z2 by plugging the cable into the micro USB socket on your mobile phone.
- Now plug one end of the HDMI cable into the slot provided on the adapter. Plug the other end into a free slot on your TV.
- Finally, you need to power the adapter to start it up. Use the charger of your Xperia Z2 and plug it into the micro USB socket of the adapter.
- The message on your smartphone now appears in the status bar that your device has been successfully connected to the television.
- Optional: If you tap on "TV launcher", you can start the RCP mode. With RCP ("Remote Control Protocol") you control the basic functions of the cell phone with the remote control of your TV. To do this, you must read the manual of the TV whether it supports RCP.
