Stream Youtube via Sonos - so it'll work
If you want to stream music or other audio content from YouTube to your Sonos speakers, this is unfortunately only possible via detours. In this practical tip, we show you which variants are available.
YouTube: Stream music through Sonos - Here's how
- If you use an Apple TV, you can connect your Sonos speaker to the TV. The sound from the Apple TV is then transmitted to Sonos. You can then control the YouTube app either on your iPhone, iPod touch, Mac or directly on the Apple TV.
- The whole thing is also possible via Google’s Chromecast. The little helper is also connected to the television and then sends the audio signal to the connected Sonos boxes. The control is then either via your iPhone, Android smartphone or on the PC with the Google Chrome browser and the Google Cast tool.
- Unfortunately, Sonos itself does not offer the integration of YouTube, since this is mainly a video service. For iOS you get the SonosTube app, which, however, costs around 5 euros after the free trial period. The detours via Apple TV and Chromecast are then superfluous.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to connect Sonos to Spotify.
