Youtube: Stream music videos without a GEMA lock

In Germany you can no longer stream thousands of music videos on YouTube: GEMA has blocked them. But you can easily bypass the lock - how exactly we explain in this article.
How to stream without a GEMA lock
With the small tool "ProxMate" you put a spanner in the works of GEMA: As soon as you call YouTube, ProxMate starts in the background and directs you to Youtube via an American proxy server. It then appears to the video platform as if you were a user from the USA and you can access music videos without any problems.
- First download ProxMate for Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. This is an XPI file.
- Then open Firefox and click "Firefox"> "New Tab"> "Open File". Alternatively, you can use the shortcut [Ctrl] + [O].
- Select the downloaded ProxMate file and start the installation in the next window with "Install now".
- After successful installation you get the message that you now have to restart Firefox. After the restart, you can call YouTube and get immediate access to every music video.
- The prerequisite for this is that the clip must also be released in the USA. If, for example, the rights of American television stations have been violated in the case of TV snippets, they are "not available".
Alternative tools: "ProxTube" and "Youtube Unblocker"
In addition to ProxMate, you can also use two other programs: "ProxTube" and the "Youtube Unblocker" also give you access to music videos that have been blocked by GEMA.
- Download here ProxTube for Firefox, here the version for Google Chrome and open the file with [Ctrl] + [O] in the browser.
- With the ProxTube installation you also get annoying advertisements. However, you can deactivate this in the ProxTube settings. Another disadvantage: there are always longer buffer times.
- Instead of ProxTube, you can also use the YouTube Unblocker: This is currently available for Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari.
