YouTube: Activate new design in advance - how it works
On YouTube you can unlock a new design for the video player in a few simple steps. You need either Google Chrome or Firefox as a web browser. In this article, we will tell you exactly how to proceed with the two programs.
Chrome: Activate new YouTube design
- First you need to set YouTube's language to English. To do this, scroll all the way down on the YouTube homepage and select "English (US)" for the language.
- Then add the Chrome extension "EditThisCookie" to your browser. After installation, the extension appears at the top next to the address bar. You may need to restart Chrome to do this.
- Then go back to YouTube and click on the cookie icon for the extension.
- Search for the cookie "VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE" with the magnifying glass symbol in the extension and click on it.
- Now delete the entry you find under "Value" and replace it with the code "Q06SngRDTGA".
- Finally, click on the green tick and update YouTube. The new, optimized design is now activated.
Firefox: Unlock new Youtube design
- Here too, set the language to "English (US)" on the YouTube homepage.
- Then install the free Firefox extension "Cookies Manager +". After the download you have to restart the browser.
- Then click on the menu button with the three horizontal lines, select "Customize" and drag "Cookie Manager +" into the menu bar.
- Open the YouTube website, start the extension and look for the "VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE" cookie.
- Delete the entry under "Content" and insert "Q06SngRDTGA" instead.
- Finally click on "Save" and reload YouTube.
