YouTube video editor - main features
We give you an overview of the most important functions of the YouTube video editor. You can use the web app to edit your videos after you upload them to YouTube.
The surface of the YouTube video editor
After starting the YouTube video editor, you must log in to YouTube with your user account. The surface of the video editor is kept simple, so that even inexperienced users can find their way around quickly.
- You can give your project a name of your choice in the top input line. Use the project button to create new projects and open or delete them.
- The large video window shows you a preview of the current project.
- To the right of the video window you get an overview of the various elements that you can add to your project. With the icons you can choose between different elements: My Videos, Creative Commons Videos, Photos, Music, Transitions and Text.
- There is a timeline below the video window. It is divided into two tracks: one for video files and one for audio files. At the bottom right you will find a slider to change the timing of the timeline.
- Find the desired video from the overview and drag it into the timeline. Be sure to drag the video into the video track.
- You can arrange several videos in a row in the timeline or add pictures, transitions and texts. You also drag these into the track for video files.
- If you add an audio file, you must drag it into the audio track.
- After you have dragged the individual elements into the timeline, you can rearrange them as desired using drag and drop.
- With the round arrow symbol you can rotate the video.
- The magic wand opens a new window in which you can carry out an automatic image correction, adjust brightness and contrast and activate pan and zoom. You can also switch to black and white mode, stabilize shaky videos, set slow motion and apply various image effects.
- The a symbol gives you the option of placing a text banner over the video.
- Use the scissors icon to cut the video. You can set an intersection at which the video will be split.
If you are satisfied with the result, simply click on the blue "Publish" button in the upper right corner of the video editor window. The video is then processed and then added to your video manager. Read another practical tip on how to make money with your YouTube videos.
