Brushing your teeth in a baby: you have to know that
Many parents find it difficult to brush their baby's teeth. It can be easy if you keep a few things in mind. We show you when and how you should brush your child's teeth.
You should keep this in mind when brushing your baby's teeth
Introduce the different stages of brushing your teeth slowly and carefully.
- A newborn usually has no teeth. That's why you shouldn't start with oral hygiene yet.
- After about six months, the first teeth begin to appear in an infant. During this time, you can also start with gentle oral hygiene.
- With a toothbrush shaped like a teether, your little darling can get used to the feeling of brushing your teeth.
- When the first milk teeth develop, you can start brushing with a small children's toothbrush.
- Finger toothbrushes are particularly suitable. The pressure can be adjusted better.
- Let your child brush their teeth from the age of two. Of course, it still needs to be checked and cleaned.
- Without checking and brushing, your child should only brush their teeth at the age of eight.
- Do not floss until your child's baby teeth are closer together.
How to brush your child's teeth
In addition to the right times to introduce dental hygiene, you should also pay attention to these things.
- First clean the occlusal surfaces, then the outer surfaces and finally the inner surfaces.
- Let your child participate in your oral hygiene. Children learn best through reproduction.
- At the age of two you should go to the dentist with your child for the first time. It is less about a control appointment than getting used to the dentist.
- Make sure you have a wholesome diet. The teeth are partially cleaned by chewing.
- To prepare toddlers for brushing their teeth, you can sing a toothbrush song or give your little sweetheart a toy.
Even with good dental hygiene, the milk teeth will eventually fail. So that you are well prepared, we will show you in our next post what you should know about pulling teeth yourself.
