Phishing mail in circulation: "Payment declined for Amazon Prime"
If you have an Amazon Prime account and receive an email that your payment has been declined, you should be careful. Phishing emails are currently going around - we will explain how to recognize them in another practical tip.
- Amazon Prime is trying to trick one of the latest scams on customers who act as sellers on the Internet platform. Internet fraudsters want to get personal data with a fraud email.
- The email states that your Prime membership has been decommissioned. Prime membership will only be reactivated after you have entered your data again. Recipients are granted ten days as a deadline. As soon as these have passed, the Prime account is said to be terminated by Amazon.
- This email does not come from Amazon and the link does not lead you to the website of the Internet shop.
- Therefore, the same applies to the supposed email from Amazon as to similar emails or calls: Under no circumstances be tempted to disclose personal data. Especially when data about your account and / or bank details are requested, all alarm bells should ring for you. Under no circumstances act hastily, do nothing at first and check the sender address.
- Log in to your Amazon Prime account in the usual way. If this works without problems, you have not been blocked.
- You can also contact Amazon customer service at any time, who will quickly find out whether your Prime membership has been decommissioned.
- As a rule, it is sufficient if you delete fraudulent emails immediately and do not react to them.
