Simply make cinnamon oil yourself
You don't have to buy cinnamon oil. You can also easily make it yourself with few means. The home-made oil is usually not as aggressive as the extracted oil and can therefore be used undiluted in many cases. All you need is a 300 ml jar with a screw cap, 5-7 cinnamon sticks or 2 tablespoons of cinnamon powder and approx. 250-300 ml neutral carrier oil.
- Choose, for example, almond, rapeseed, coconut or linseed oil as carrier oil.
- First rinse the glass with hot water to kill all bacteria and germs. Then dry it thoroughly with a cloth and let it air dry.
- Put the cinnamon sticks in the glass and then pour the oil into it.
- If you are using cinnamon powder, first heat the oil along with the cinnamon powder. Then let it cool to room temperature and pour the mixture into the glass.
- The longer you let the oil soak, the more intense the taste or aroma of the oil becomes.
- Once the desired intensity of flavor / aroma has been reached, you can strain the oil using a cheese cloth, coffee filter or kitchen towel. Store the jar in a dark, cool place.
- Open the glass and smell it. If the intensity of the cinnamon smell is pleasant for you, you can strain the oil. Otherwise, just take a taste test by trying a small amount of the oil.
