Mark quotation in Outlook
Would you like to mark quotes in Outlook so that you can give your writing partner more precise answers? When answering an email, it is useful to refer to what the original email said. In this case, only the parts of the mail to which you refer remain in a reply; these are identified by a point bracket (>) at the beginning of each line as a quote. Then write your answer below.
Identify quotes in Outlook - in just 6 steps
For Outlook to mark quotes accordingly, follow these step-by-step instructions:
- Open the "Tools, Options" command.
- Then click on "E-Mail Options" on the "Settings" tab.
- Then select the "Prefix before each line of the original message" option in the "Reply and forward" field.
- Enter the angle bracket (>) in the "Precede every line" field.
- If you also want to add your name to your comments, activate the "Mark my comments" option and enter your name. For reasons of clarity, it is advisable to write your name as an abbreviation.
- In the "When forwarding messages" field you can also specify how the texts of forwarded mails should be treated. As with quotations, you can indent them, prefix each line, leave them unformatted or add them as an attachment.
Finally, close the dialogs and can now work with your new and clearer citation system.
