Whole body tremors: possible causes
After Chancellor Merkel kept trembling all over the body, there is much speculation about possible causes. Shaking all over the body can indicate a serious illness, but it can also have harmless reasons.
Shaking all over - cause: lack of water
In the current heat wave, it is important to drink enough fluids to avoid dehydration. Insufficient fluid intake manifests itself in various symptoms - such as a sudden tremor all over the body - and can be very dangerous.
- In order to maintain metabolism, the body needs fluid and the electrolytes it contains.
- Therefore, an adult should drink at least two liters a day. In high heat, however, there may be more to relieve the body.
- Dehydration is not only manifested by tremors, but also by headaches, dizziness, difficulty concentrating, nausea, disorientation and confusion.
- If you experience these symptoms with yourself, you should allow yourself some rest and slowly replenish your fluid and electrolyte balance. Under no circumstances should you drink too much liquid quickly, as this will put a strain on your body again.
- If you experience serious symptoms such as kidney problems, cramps or delirium, call a doctor immediately.
Other possible causes of tremors
There are other causes of sudden tremors all over the body. You should be particularly vigilant here if you have drunk and eaten enough and no other illnesses or symptoms are known. In case of doubt, you should rather consult a doctor. Other possible causes are:
- Parkinson's disease
- Hyperthyroidism
- Alzheimer's disease
- stroke
- multiple sclerosis
