Cola, iced tea, fruit spritzer or lemonade. They all contain a lot of sugar. The packaging does not even always have sugar on it, but substances that end in -ose, such as glucose or sucrose. However, these are also types of sugar. Syrups also contain sugar.
- 100 milliliters of cola contain 11 grams of sugar. With a glass of 250 milliliters, you are already exceeding the WHO recommended amount of sugar by 2.5 grams.
- Iced tea contains about eight grams of sugar and apple spritzer contains about nine grams of sugar. This can partly be due to the sweetness of the apple juice.
- However, you should not consume too much of light products. Because these products often replace carbohydrates or fats with sweeteners.
Consequences of too much sugar
According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and nutritionists, sugar should only be absorbed to a limited extent from finished products because these generally contain fewer substances that the body really needs. This often distinguishes a fruit juice from a freshly squeezed juice that still contains vitamins, minerals and trace elements.

- 25 grams of sugar correspond to 100 kilocalories, which is five percent of an adult's daily requirement.
- According to the Robert Koch Institute, the acids in the drinks can also reduce the bone density of adolescents.
- Since sugar changes the taste perception, children and adolescents consume unsweetened drinks or water less and less with a daily consumption of sugary drinks.
