Missed the connection: Deutsche Bahn train was delayed
If you are dependent on several trains during your trip, there is a possibility that you will miss the connection if your first train is delayed. If you travel by train, the following applies to your ticket:
- You can take the next possible train without additional payment if a Deutsche Bahn train was delayed. You also do not have to have the ticket rewritten at the information desk.
- However, if you have traveled beforehand using means of transport over which Deutsche Bahn has no influence, you should inquire beforehand at the information regarding the onward journey.
- Since Deutsche Bahn is not to blame for missing the connection, you may have to pay for a new ticket.
- Even if you miss a train for self-inflicted reasons, you have to buy a new travel ticket.
Train binding and flex tickets
The above rules apply if you have a train ticket.
- You are bound to the train if you travel with Intercity-Express (ICE), Intercity (IC), Eurocity (EC), EuroNight (EN) or D-Zug (D). This also applies to economy tickets.
- If you book a flex-price ticket, you can freely choose the trains on the day of your trip.
