Connect a second phone: there are these options
If you want to connect a second telephone, you have different options depending on the model. In this practical tip, we will tell you how to put a second phone into operation.
Connect a second phone - so it'll work
Below we show you different ways of connecting a second phone:
- Option 1: Connect directly to the router - Many routers offer more than one telephone connection. You then have to configure these individually in the administration interface.
- Option 2: DECT cordless phones can be connected without problems. All you have to do is press the DECT button on the router and search for stations on your phone. Then the setup is done on the phone.
- Option 3: A base - Many phones have a base and any number of handsets. You then simply have to register the handsets on the base, which is directly connected to your router. However, all handsets then have the same number.
- Option 4: Second telephone socket - If you have a second telephone socket in your apartment or house, you can use it. Before doing so, however, make sure that it has been put into operation. The best thing to do is to ask your provider.
Connecting a second telephone: requirements and special features
- In general, you should find out in advance whether you have two telephone lines on the part of the provider.
- If this is not the case, we recommend the third option. All you have to do is connect a base to the router and register all other handsets on it.
- This also saves cabling if the second telephone has to be a little further away, since the handsets are connected to the base by radio.
- Contact your provider for more information on the subject.
