- With Cortana, Windows 10 has a powerful voice assistant on board. In order for Cortana to be able to help you, you have to set up the voice assistant at the first start and feed it with information. After that, Cortana can even make suggestions based on your preferences - much like Google Now.
- After installing Windows 10, you should notice the unusually full taskbar. The reason for this is the search bar and the symbol for Cortana. Right-clicking on the taskbar gives you many setting options and you can remove the search field from the taskbar, for example.
- In Windows 10, Internet Explorer is history and is now called Microsoft Edge. The new browser is much faster than its predecessor and comes with some interesting functions. For example, you can add comments to websites. When starting for the first time, you can change the start page or activate the favorites bar.
- With Windows 10 you can create virtual desktops for the first time. This is particularly helpful if you have many windows open at the same time and do not want to lose the overview. You can open multiple desktops using the new icon in the taskbar in Windows 10. In addition, there are some new keyboard shortcuts in Windows 10 that let you switch between desktops faster.
- Right at the beginning, Microsoft will release many updates for Windows 10 to fix bugs and close security gaps. It is best to make sure after the installation that the automatic updates are activated. To do this, open the settings, select the "Update and security" icon and open the "Advanced settings". By default, the updates should be set to "automatic". Otherwise you can change the setting here.
- With the installation of Windows 10, your virus protection may have been deactivated or must now be reinstalled. After installing Windwos 10, you should therefore check whether you have to reactivate your virus protection. Windows 10 also has its own Windows Defender, which also protects you from viruses. You have to decide for yourself whether you want to rely on Windows Defender.
- The Windows Store has been fundamentally revised in Windows 10 and can now be used more conveniently. The presentation in particular is much clearer. However, before you can download apps, music and films from the Windows Store, you have to log in to the Windows Store once after installation. You can find the tile of the Windows Store in the start menu or you can use the search function.
- Windows 10 makes working in multiple windows even easier. In Windows 10, you can just drag windows into a corner to quarter them. You can open up to four windows of the same size at the same time. However, if you move two windows to the edge of the screen, they will split the screen in half.
- The Explorer has also received a new function in Windows 10. By default, when you open Explorer, quick access starts and shows you frequently used folders and the most recently used files. In the Explorer options you can also set that the hard disks are displayed first when you start Explorer.
