AAA title: what is it?
When it comes to video games, you will always find the name of the AAA title. In this practical tip, we will tell you what is really behind it.
AAA titles are games with a particularly high budget
In the gaming industry, "AAA" or "Triple A" is used to denote computer or video games that were given a particularly high budget during development. Before an AAA title is published, as much marketing as possible is used to achieve commercial success. AAA titles can thus be compared to the so-called blockbusters of the film industry.
- AAA stocks are always big publishers who have the money they need. Therefore, such games raise the expectations of those responsible that they will be bought by a large number of people immediately after the sales start and thus become a financial success.
- For this reason, AAA titles are usually easily accessible so that they appeal to the largest possible target group. For many players, they therefore have a reputation for relying on well-known and proven content and good graphics rather than offering innovative innovations. Of course, this is not always true.
- The designation "AAA" can be traced back to the US grading system, in which the A represents the highest grade. In practice, however, the rating of a game as an AAA title should not be seen as a guarantee that it is particularly good.
- Examples of AAA titles are the newer games in the GTA, Call-of-Duty and Assassin's Creed series.
