Adobe Flash Player keeps crashing - what to do?
If the Adobe Flash Player always crashes, it is not particularly pleasant to surf the Internet. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
1. Clear cookies and cache if Flash Player always crashes
If the problem occurs only temporarily, it is sufficient to delete the cache and cookies from your browser. To do this, follow the appropriate instructions:
- Clear cookies and cache in Google Chrome
- Clear cookies and cache in Firefox
- Clear cookies and cache in Internet Explorer
- Clear cookies and cache in Opera
2. Deactivate hardware acceleration
The hardware acceleration should relieve your computer when displaying flash content. However, this can also lead to problems. Therefore, deactivate hardware acceleration:
- First, open any Flash content. If you can't think of anything right away, google "Flash Games".
- Right-click on the flash content and select "Settings".
- In the small window at the bottom, switch to the category on the far left and switch off the "Activate hardware acceleration" option.
3. Reinstall Flash Player if there are problems
- If the problem is still there, it is probably an error in the Flash Player itself. In this case, simply uninstall the software. You can find suitable instructions in the practical tip Uninstalling Windows Programs.
- You can then download and install the current version of Adobe Flash Player in the CHIP download area. It makes sense to restart between uninstalling and reinstalling.
- If the problem persists, change the browser. If you only notice the error in a browser, you can also reinstall it.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to get the Flash Player for iPhone and iPad.
