Arm 3: Increase FPS - with these tricks you can do it
With the following tips you can increase the FPS in Arma 3 and play the tactical shooter even more smoothly. In addition to the simple graphics settings, there are many other tricks that noticeably increase the FPS number.
Arma 3: More FPS with the right graphics settings
The easiest way to change the performance of Arma 3 is to use the graphics settings in the game. You can make the following settings here:
- Resolution: Here you should use the native resolution of the monitor if possible. A value below this would severely impair sharpness. If you have a Full HD monitor, set it to "1920x1080".
- Shadows: Deactivating the shadows brings a significant performance boost. You can make a lot more compromises here than with the resolution.
- Particles: You should set this option to "High". A lower value brings a little more performance, but affects the view as a sniper.
- Clouds: You can deactivate the clouds. Although this only brings a small FPS boost, it can certainly contribute to a smoother game.
- Visibility: Here you have to experiment how high you can set the visibility. Make any other changes and then determine the range of vision so that you achieve enough FPS.

More FPS thanks to Steam start parameters for Arma 3
Thanks to the start parameters in Steam, Arma 3 can assign more power to your PC and thus increase the FPS. To set the start parameters, right-click on the game and then on "Properties". Click on "Set start options". A parameter always has the following scheme: -startparameter = [value].
- -cpucount: Select the number of CPU cores used. For 4 CPU cores, you should enter "-cpucount = 4".
- -maxmem: Use this to set the maximum RAM used. You can choose a value between 256 and 2047 here. But note: anything over 2047 MByte resets the value to 2047.
- -maxvram: This defines the maximum used graphics memory. Again, you can choose a value between 256 and 2047.
- -nosplash: This parameter deactivates the splash screen when starting the game. This ensures a slightly faster game start.
- -skipintro: skips the intro every time the game starts. This option does not help you during the game.
- -malloc = system: Use this parameter from Windows 7 to use the memory management of the system. This often brings a noticeable FPS boost.

Arma 3: Edit config file for more FPS
Find the file "Arma3.cfg" and the file "[profile name] .Arma3Profile" in the path "C: \ Users \ Documents \ Arma 3 \". To be on the safe side, make a backup of the two files before editing by copying and pasting the files elsewhere.
- Then right-click on "Arma3.cfg" and select any editor under "Open with ...".
- Edit line 25 to "GPU_MaxFramesAhead = 1;".
- In line 26 you should see "GPU_DetectedFramesAhead = 1;" to adjust.
- Deactivate VSync in line 28 with "vsync = 0".
- You can adjust the "SceneComplexity" option in the "[Profile name] .Arma3Profile" file. Choose a value that suits you between 15000 and 500000.
