Delete libraries in Windows 7 - how it works
You can arrange files and folders in a library under Windows 7. We show you how to delete them again in our practical tip.
How to delete the libraries in Windows 7
- Open the start menu and enter "regedit" in the search field below. Start the registry editor of the same name.
- If necessary, you have to confirm this step with the user account control. To do this, click "Yes" at the warning.
- Navigate to the key in the left column: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Desktop \ NameSpace".
- Then right-click the entry "{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}" and select "Export". Then browse for a location to back up the system file for an emergency.
- Now remove the entry permanently by right-clicking on the key again and selecting "Delete". Confirm the warning by clicking "Yes".
- After you restart your computer, the library is removed. In case of problems, restore the previously backed up file: Simply double-click on the backup and follow the installation instructions.
