Blackscreen on Windows - what to do?
If a black screen appears on your Windows computer, you can no longer operate it. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Blackscreen on Windows: The causes
- A black screen can have many causes, but says the same thing in most cases. A serious error has been caused so that basic Windows functions are disrupted.
- If the black screen can no longer be used, you have to repair Windows. Restoring the system can also help. See the next paragraph for instructions.
Blackscreen on Windows: How to repair your system
- To bypass the blackscreen for repairs, you must start Windows in Safe Mode. Windows 8 or later users follow these instructions.
- Here you can now try to restore Windows to a previous time by performing a system restore.
- If that doesn't help, you need to repair Windows. Get the Windows DVD and boot from the DVD. Windows 8 or newer users can repair the system directly in the BIOS. To do this, follow these instructions.
