Crash plan: First settings
After installing Crashplan you have to make various settings. Only then can you start the backup. We will guide you through the crash plan settings.
First settings for your crash plan backup
If you have successfully installed the "Crashplan" data backup software, you should take a look at the settings to protect your data:
- First switch to "Settings" and then to the "General" tab. Here you should determine how much CPU power the program receives at what time.
- In the "Backup" tab you can define the intervals for your backup. For example, you can choose whether this should always take place or only at certain times. You can also exclude files and folders from the data backup and make advanced settings. We particularly recommend encryption before transfer to the cloud.
- Under "Versioning" you can specify when a file should be saved after a change. Uploading does not necessarily start immediately, as is the case with the cloud provider Dropbox.
- Under "Account" you can add a password to the software and view your license.
Windows 8 users can also use the "JustCloud" software for a backup. We will explain the features of the tool to you in another practical tip.
