Make the iPhone smarter: the best tips and tricks
Surfing despite airplane mode, personalized vibrating arm and pausing calls - with the right steps you can make your iPhone even smarter. The o2 gurus have summarized the five best tips and tricks for you in this article.
Tip 1: Answer iPhone messages on the lockscreen
By default, you always have to unlock your screen to reply to new messages. You can also write your short messages directly on the lock screen with a little trick:
- To do this, open the Settings app and tap on "Messages" under "Messages".
- Make sure that the options "Allow messages" and "On the lock screen" are activated.
- If you now receive a message, it appears on the lockscreen. Swipe left, you can answer the sender directly.

Tip 2: Personalize the iPhone vibration alarm
If the standard vibration of the iPhone is too boring for you, you can create your own vibration scheme and assign it to certain contacts.
- To do this, open the Settings app and tap on "Sounds".
- Then decide on the entry "Ringtone" and tap on "Vibration" at the top.
- Here you can already choose between different pre-made vibration patterns.
- Alternatively, you can create your own scheme using "Create new vibration". To do this, tap the screen in the desired rhythm.

Tip 3: Surf in WiFi despite airplane mode
In the plane: cell phone off. However, many airlines already offer their own WLAN networks. For this reason, the WLAN connection can also be activated in airplane mode.
- To do this, open the Settings app and activate the WLAN function in the section of the same name.
- Alternatively, swipe your finger from the bottom of the screen to the center of the touchscreen. The control center opens. If you tap the WLAN symbol, the connection is activated.

Tip 4: Hold the caller on hold on the iPhone
If you receive a call that you do not want to answer immediately, you can put it on hold first.
- To do this, press and hold the mute icon on the call screen.
- The caller is then on hold. You can then take over the call as usual at a later date.
Tip 5: surf anonymously on the iPhone
You can also surf anonymously under Safari on iPhone. In the so-called private mode, the app does not save any data from your current browser session.
- To do this, start the Safari browser on your iPhone.
- Then tap the tabs icon with the two squares in the lower right corner.
- Select the "Private" option in the overview, leave no traces when surfing.
- Note: You can recognize the private mode by the gray colored menu bar of the browser.
