Firefox message: Connection to proxy server rejected
If Firefox reports that the proxy server connection has been reset, you can try some settings to return to websites. We give you tips.
Remedy: Firefox proxy server connection rejected
If a proxy server connection fails in Firefox, this can have many causes and there are various possible solutions. In most cases, one of the following steps will help you:
- Firefox usually shows the error message together with a button "Try again". Click this or press F5 to go back to the page.
- If the error persists, press [Alt] and navigate via "Tools" -> "Settings" -> "Advanced" -> "Network" under "Connection" to "Settings".
- Activate the box "No proxy", confirm twice with "OK" and try to access the website again.
- If that doesn't work, restart Firefox and try again.
- Alternatively, if you use a proxy, check the box "Automatically detect the proxy settings for this network".
- If that doesn't work either, activate "Use system proxy settings" and solve any problems with our tips on connecting a proxy server.
- A Firefox update may also help.
- Sometimes Firefox add-ons manipulate the connection settings. Harmful addwares or other hijackers in particular are often to blame for this.
- We help you remove the adware from Firefox and from your system.
- In the case of stubborn adware, the AdwCleaner and the CHIP instructions will help you get rid of the annoying software.
