Google Chrome: update addons
You should update Google Chrome add-ons regularly to keep your browser safe and stable. In addition to important bug fixes, an update also often brings useful new functions. This practical tip shows you how to keep your Google Chrome addons up to date.
Google Chrome addons are updated automatically
- You don't have to manually update many extensions in Google Chrome, as in most cases this happens in the background. In some cases, an update can be delayed or not possible due to errors on the part of the developer or Google. In this case you should try the manual method.
- The situation is different with outdated plug-ins installed by you. Since these are not updated automatically, Google Chrome will inform you with a pop-up message about available updates. In this case, click "Update plug-in" to upgrade to a newer version.
Update Chrome extensions manually
If an addon does not support automatic updates, you can do it manually.
- Enter "chrome: // extensions" in the browser line.
- Then click the box next to "Developer Mode" in the upper right corner.
- Then click the "Update extensions now" button. The updates are now downloaded and installed.
