iMessage cannot be activated - you can do that
If iMessage cannot be activated, there can be several reasons. We'll show you how to solve the most common problems related to using iMessage on iOS.
iMessage is not activated - this can help
- Restart: First switch your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch completely off and on again. Small errors in the buffer are deleted.
- Activation: Open the "Settings" app and select the "Messages" category below. Here you can deactivate the "iMessage" option and then activate it again.
- SMS function: Deactivate the option "Send as SMS" in the same menu. If necessary, you can switch the function back on later.
- Date & time: Switch back to "Settings" and select "Date & time" under "General". Check here whether the date, time and time zone are set correctly.
- Connection: To activate iMessage you need an active internet connection and a connection to the mobile network. iMessage is activated via SMS. This SMS is free of charge at most providers, but you should have credit for at least one SMS.
- Wait: In some cases, activation can take several minutes to hours. If the problem still hasn't resolved the next day, contact your wireless service provider or the Apple hotline.
