Internet Explorer: Deactivate GIF images
On many websites, GIF images are just annoying. We show you how to deactivate the moving pictures in Internet Explorer.
Turn off GIF animations in Internet Explorer
If you are on a website with a GIF image, you can simply press the Esc key and the animation stops. It is only restarted after reloading the website. To permanently disable animations, follow these steps:
- Start Internet Explorer and click on the gear icon in the top right corner.
- Select the "Internet options" there. A new window is opening up.
- Go to the "Advanced" tab and scroll down the list to the "Multimedia" category.
- Remove the checkmark in front of the item "Play animations in websites".
- Then click on the "OK" button and your settings will be applied. GIF images will no longer be played from now on.
