iOS 8: jailbreak - how it works
If you want to free your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from Apple's bonds, you can install the jailbreak for iOS 8.1. Our instructions show you the individual steps.
iOS 8: Jailbreak only with Pangu
- The previous jail breaks were always developed by the development team evasi0n. These jail breaks worked extremely reliably and without major problems.
- However, the developers have not yet released a jailbreak for iOS 8. Only the jailbreak for iOS 7 is available.
- Pangu's Chinese developers released a jailbreak just a month after iOS 8 was released. Experts consider it safe, but some users still report minor problems with the jailbreak.
- However, since the November 4, 2014 update, the Pangu jailbreak seems to be more reliable. However, please note that jailbreaking always involves risks and void your warranty on the device.
- The jailbreak runs on all devices that support iOS 8. However, the jailbreak does not bring an unlock. If your device is bound to a SIM lock, the Pangu jailbreak will not help you at this time.
- The software currently only runs on Windows, Mac users can only emulate a Windows system using software such as Parallels Desktop.
Step 1: create backup from iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
- Connect your iOS device to your computer via USB cable and start iTunes.
- Select the device at the top left and click on the "Back up now" button on the right.
- Wait for the backup to be created, exit iTunes and disconnect the device from the computer.
Step 2: install Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8.1
- Download the current Pangu jailbreak from us in the CHIP download area.
- Start the program and reconnect your iOS device to your computer. The software does not need to be installed.
- Unlock your iPhone and tap the "Trust" button if necessary.
- Then put the device in airplane mode. This is done either in the "Settings" app or in the control center by pulling your finger up from the bottom of the screen.
- Click on the "Start Jailbreak" button in the software and the process begins. The jailbreak is downloaded and installed. This can take some time. Your iOS device will restart several times.
- If you can access your device again, the Pangu jailbreak is installed. If you start the Cydia app, you have access to the Jailbreak AppStore. In some cases, the app has to be started twice or the iPhone restarts itself.
- Your device is now ready for use with the jailbreak successfully installed.
Pangu jailbreak issues for iOS 8.1
- In some cases there are problems installing the jailbreak. If the process fails, simply restart the installation.
- In the worst case, you can easily restore your iPhone from backup. To do this, start the device in DFU mode and open iTunes. ITunes will then reinstall iOS 8 and import the backup if desired.
