The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been in stores since September 2014. We show you the main differences between the two new Apple models.
iPhone 6 and 6 Plus: Differences in hardware and software
The new Apple flagships differ not only in the display size. On the hardware side, both phones have their own peculiarities.
- Display: The iPhone 6 no longer has a 4 inch diagonal display like its predecessors, but 4.7 inches. The iPhone 6 Plus comes with a relatively huge 5.5 inches.
- Dimensions: The size of the 6 Plus is correspondingly large: around 15.8 cm high with a width of around 7.8 cm. The iPhone 6, on the other hand, is only 13.8 cm high and 6.7 cm wide. Both devices are approximately the same thickness at 0.7 cm.
- Weight: Despite its size, the iPhone 6 Plus remains relatively light at 172 grams. The iPhone 6 is also a lightweight in its class at 129 grams.
- Resolution: The iPhone 6 Plus is the first iPhone with a Full HD resolution. This is 1920 x 1080 pixels with a total of 401 ppi. The iPhone 6 resolves as usual in HD with 1334 x 750 pixels at 326 ppi.
- Camera: The iPhone 6 Plus also has optical image stabilization. This way, your pictures and videos will no longer shake - even if you turn your smartphone in the meantime. This function is currently not available on iPhone 6.
- Battery: Compared to the iPhone 5S, the battery has drastically degraded, especially in the iPhone 6. With a speaking time of 5:14 hours measured by us, a surf time of 5:49 hours and a charging time of 2:29 minutes, the device only delivers satisfactory results. With the iPhone 6 Plus we were able to make calls for around 8:56 hours and surf 6:20 hours, but the device also had to be plugged in for 3:41 hours.
- Price: The prices of the iPhone 6 have not changed compared to the predecessor. Depending on the storage space, the devices cost 699, 799 or 899 euros. The iPhone 6 Plus is always 100 euros more expensive and therefore costs 799, 899 or 999 euros.
