iPhone 7 got wet? You should do that now
If your iPhone 7 got wet for the first time, you usually don't have to worry. We'll show you what loads the device can withstand and what Apple advises you when your phone gets wet.
iPhone 7 got wet: how waterproof is the device?
- The iPhone 7 has an IP67 certification. The smartphone is dustproof and waterproof. However, there are some limitations.
- Protection against water only applies for a maximum of 30 minutes at a time. A depth of one meter must not be exceeded.
- These times only refer to clean tap water. The iPhone 7 is not equipped for salt water or other liquids.

iPhone 7 is wet: which liquids are harmless?
- The IP67 certification only applies to clean tap water. The iPhone 7 can also withstand a brief stay in the rain or in the shower. In the shower, however, the iPhone should not come into direct contact with the water jet.
- If the smartphone falls into a puddle, it shouldn't cause any water damage either. Note that damage to the device can, however, affect the waterproof.
- You should not soak the iPhone 7 in salt water, soapy water or other liquids such as alcohol. It will probably not harm the device in the short term, but it is not designed for it.

Drying iPhone 7: Apple advises you
- If the iPhone 7 gets wet, you should wipe it dry first. Any clean cloth or your own T-shirt is suitable for this.
- So that the water also disappears from the Lightning connector, Apple recommends gently pushing the device with one hand on the other palm.
- The Lightning connector may only be used again when the iPhone 7 is completely dry. Otherwise there may be a short circuit. The same applies to the SIM slot.
- You can use air to speed up the drying process. Make sure that the air is cold and not warm.
