iPhone as a bicycle bell - so it'll work
Everyone can make calls and surf - but you can also use your iPhone as a bicycle bell. We'll show you what you need.
Step 1: attach the iPhone to the handlebar
First of all, you should attach your iDevice to your handlebars like a real bell. There are now special devices for this:
- With the bike case "Luxa2" you can attach the old iPhone generations to your bike, for example.
- Owners of an iPhone 5 or 5S prefer this model instead.
- Somewhat cheaper iPhone mounts are made of rubber, like this accessory. However, the rubber fastenings are usually not as stable as the special smartphone cases.
- Alternatively, you can also look for the bike cases on Ebay or in an electronics store. There are always good offers here.
Step 2: Turn the iDevice into a bicycle bell using the app
For the perfect bike bell, your iPhone is only missing a chic ringtone. You can retrofit this with one of these free apps:
- With the free app "ARBÖ Rad-App" you always have a good bell at hand and also get repair tips and help for the bike.
- The free tool "Walking Bicycle Bell" is actually intended for pedestrians. The iOS app also works perfectly on the bike.
- If you like it a bit more colorful, you should take a look at the free soundboard "Instant Buttons". Simply add your favorite tones to the favorites here. This guarantees that you are the center of attention in road traffic.
- But be careful: the iPhone is very quiet even with the loudest settings. Be sure to test the apps in a safe area before using them in traffic!
In another practical tip, we will show you how you can protect your iPhone battery.
