iPhone: Push notifications no longer work
Whether on Whatsapp or Facebook - from time to time the push notifications do not work on almost every iPhone. We'll tell you what that can be and how to fix the problems.
Enable push notifications on iPhone
The most common reason why push notifications don't work is because they have been disabled for individual apps:
- To activate it, open the "Settings" app.
- Click there on the menu item "Notifications".
- Find the app you want in the list.
- Activate the individual options as required. However, you should definitely activate the "License plate icon" and "On the lock screen" items and also choose between "Banner" or "Notification".
- Once you've set everything up, turn off your iPhone and restart it. Now the problem should be solved. If not, see the next paragraph for more help.
Causes and solutions for incorrect push notifications on iPhone
- Overload: If you switch back and forth between several complex apps, older iPhones in particular can be overwhelmed. If the processes stall and everything does not run as smoothly as usual, the iPhone is happy to forego push notifications. To fix this, it was usually sufficient to close all apps. It is best to briefly switch your iPhone off and on again.
- Reinstall app: If notifications for just one or a few apps do not work, you can simply delete them and reinstall them.
- WLAN problem: Many domestic WLAN networks are not particularly powerful. If a large number of devices are active at the same time, only a fraction of the usual speed can arrive on your iPhone. Therefore, check whether the push notifications work via the mobile data network. If so, the problem is probably with your WiFi.
- The activated "Do not disturb" function: If you have activated the Do not disturb functions in the settings, you will be informed by push notifications, but without vibration and sound. You can see whether the function is active when there is a crescent moon next to the time. Then switch it off under "Settings" if necessary.
- Jail break: If you jailbreaked your Apple device, this can also be a reason for the error. Reinstall the jail break or switch back to the current iOS.
- Reset iPhone: If all of these steps don't fix the problem, you can restore your iPhone. To do this, reset it to the factory settings and then optionally run a backup again. You can find out exactly how it works in this practical tip.
