iPod: Find serial number - so it'll work
If you want to guarantee your iPod or send it to Apple for repair, you need the serial number. This practical tip shows you where you can find these on your iPod.
How to find the serial number on your iPod
You can find the serial number by navigating to "General" in the "Settings" and then to "Info". There you will find the serial number to the right of the corresponding entry. The serial number can also be found on the housing of the iPod:
- With the iPod Touch, Classic and Nano you will also find the serial number on the back of the devices. At the lower end above the test mark you will find the serial number (see picture).
- For the iPod shuffle and the 6th generation of iPod nano, you will find the serial number on the side of the clip that touches the back of the device.
- If you have a 3rd generation iPod shuffle, you will find the serial number at the bottom of the back under the clip. With the 2nd generation you will find the serial number on the inside of the clip and with the 1st generation at the bottom of the back under the Apple logo.
- You will also find the serial number on the original packaging near the barcode and on the invoice.
