Subnautica: The Leviathans at a glance

Leviathans in Subnautica are among the most dangerous creatures and count as the top predators of all. However, there are species within the group that are harmless and even helpful to the player.

• Reaper Leviathan: With a length of about 55 meters and a hunting ground from the crash zone to the void, Reaper Leviathane are among the first big monsters you will encounter. You can instantly kill unprepared swimmers with two bites and take care of some jump scare.
• Sea dragon: Sea dragons are a much larger and more dangerous variant of the reaper. They appear quite late in the game and are extremely dangerous, even for vehicles.
• Phantom Leviathan: Phantom Leviathane are physically more like a snake and are slightly transparent. If you spot the main character, the phantoms play cat and mouse.
• Sea Emperor: The Sea Emperor is said to be the largest of all Leviathans and a central aspect of the story.
• Except for the Lake Emperor, all other Leviathans can be killed. A fight against the monsters is only successful with luck and the best preparation.
• If you try to leave the world over the edge of the map, 3 Phantom Leviathane will appear every 30 seconds. Track them and try to kill them until you turn back.
• The reef ridges and sea walkers also belong to the Leviathane class. However, these are herbivorous relatives of the Leviathans.
