PC crashes but is still running - what now?
If the PC crashes, it often indicates a problem. But what does it mean if it is still running? Here we present the possible causes and solutions for this problem.
PC crashes and continues to run: Possible causes
- First try to shutdown the PC correctly and then disconnect it from the power supply. Remove all cables and open the housing.
- Check here whether all connections are correctly connected and the plugs are inserted correctly.
- If necessary, replace cables if they are defective.
- Dust is considered an enemy of the individual components - at least when there is a high volume. You should therefore regularly remove dust from your PC.
- In this context, all fans and their outputs must be cleaned of dust so that the PC gets enough fresh air for cooling.
- However, the power supply may also be defective. This supplies the PC and all components with electricity. Therefore, replace it if there is a suspicion.
- The mainboard can also be defective. Here you should consider whether a new mainboard or a new Windows PC makes sense. However, you should clarify this with an expert.
