PUBG: Use Zeroing - how it works
Players from Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, also called PUBG, often use the so-called "zeroing". You can find out how this works and what it is in the following guide. This is based on the tips and tricks of the steam user "Arteken".
What is Zeroing in PUBG?
In contrast to the Fortnite competition, the Battle Royale game PUBG is as close to reality as possible. While players of the first game mentioned have to deal with the construction mechanics, PUBG fans have the challenge of mastering the "bullet drop". This is caused, for example, by gravitation and other physical effects that also play a role for snipers in the real world.
- If you want to take out a distant opponent, you often have to estimate how far away it is and therefore set the center of the visor further up. Most sights in PUBG are set to 100 meters by default.
- However, it is now possible to calibrate some visors at certain distances. This is called zeroing.
- However, since you can hardly tell how far the opponent is, be it 500 meters or even a kilometer, only a few players use this game mechanic.
Estimate the distance
Before setting the visor or even firing the first shot, it is important to get a more accurate idea of the distance. Here's how:
- Orientate yourself on the waypoints visible on the map. This could be buildings or other eye-catching markings, for example. One of the smaller squares that are drawn on the map has a side length of 100 meters.
- Now just add up the boxes between you and your opponent. This gives you relatively accurate information about the distance.
- Of course, the more you play the game, the easier it will be to estimate the distance.
Stop zeroing
Now that you have an idea of how far the ball has to fly, you can calibrate the visor. This is quite simple and works like this:
- While aiming, you can use the Page Up and Page Down buttons to make the settings on the visor. These are located above the arrow keys and are titled Page Up and Page Down on English keyboards.
- In principle, the buttons work exactly as they are called: Picture Up increases the calibrated distance and vice versa.
- However, keep in mind that every sniper rifle in PUBG has a different behavior when it is fired. With some rifles, the bullets tend to fall, others give a shorter flight time.
- Your position in relation to the enemy also plays a role: if you fire from a raise at an opponent, you must also take this into account.
