Black screen at TeamViewer - what to do?
If a black screen appears when accessing another computer via TeamViewer, this can have several reasons. In this practical tip we will show you what you can do about it.
You can do that: Black screen on TeamViewer under Windows
The black screen indicates that the TeamViewer service is not running properly. Below we have put together solutions for you:
- Check whether TeamViewer is in the exception list of the firewall and possibly the antivirus software.
- You can also try restarting the remote computer and then reconnecting. To do this, click on "Restart remote computer" under "Actions".
- If you still have direct access to the remote computer, you can try to end TeamViewer completely and to end the service "TeamViewer X" in the service management ("Start"> "Run"> "services.msc"). Then start TeamViewer and re-establish the connection.
- Make sure that the "Windows Remote Desktop" service is not running while you are running TeamViewer. This can also be a cause of the black screen. To do this, open the Windows Task Manager and look for "Windows Remote Desktop" in the "Processes" tab. If this is listed there, select it and click on the "End Process" button and then confirm by clicking on "End Process".
- Other programs may also use the PC's Internet connection. Therefore, check whether, for example, updates or downloads are being downloaded and, if necessary, terminate all programs running in the background using the Windows Task Manager.
This practical tip is based on TeamViewer 9. In addition to remote maintenance, you can also hold a meeting in TeamViewer. You can read how this works in the next practical tip.
