Change SIM card: You have to pay attention to this
If you want to change your SIM card, there are a few things to consider. We'll show you how the change goes smoothly.
Change SIM card: You have to be aware of this
- If you have received a new SIM card from your mobile phone provider by post, it is ready for immediate use. If you have bought a prepaid SIM card, you must first register it online.
- If you have changed your cell phone and now need a micro SIM instead of a normal SIM card, you can also request this from your provider. The service is usually free of charge. If you receive the new SIM card, you must deactivate the old one by phone so that the new one is activated.
- If you do not want to apply for a new micro SIM, as this is chargeable, you can simply cut the old SIM card. We show you how this works in this practical tip.
Swap SIM card - how it works
- With many smartphones, the SIM card is pushed into the side of the housing. To do this, you have to prick the hole with the supplied pen or a paper clip so that the slot opens.
- The back of older smartphones and most Samsung Galaxy models must be removed. The SIM card can then be inserted there.
In the next practical tip, we will show you what you can do if your SIM card is not recognized.
