Steam: Fix Error 105 - Here's how
If error 105 occurs in Steam, the Internet connection to the Steam servers is faulty. We'll show you how to fix the problem.
Solve error 105 in Steam - so it'll work
- First restart your computer. Small errors in the cache of Steam and Windows are thus deleted. In some cases this solves the problem.
- If that doesn't help, open the Steam installation folder. This is usually "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Steam". Find the "Steam.exe" file here, right-click on it and select the "Start as administrator" option.
- Also press the [Windows] and [R] keys at the same time so that the "Execute" command opens. Enter "inetcpl.cpl" here and confirm with "OK". Switch to the "Connections" tab and click the "LAN settings" button. Deactivate the "Use proxy server for LAN" option here.
- You can find more helpful solutions in the practical tip "Steam does not start".

Error 105: steam down or broken?
If you are unable to connect to the Steam servers despite the tips, the problem is probably with the provider itself:
- You can find all current Steam error messages on the website AlleSt Stör.de. If there are problems with the Steam servers, you will find several hundred messages here. In this case, only one thing helps: wait and see.
- If all of this does not help, you can uninstall Steam as the last step and then download the latest version in the CHIP download area. Before doing so, back up your games.
