In order not to lose track in Thunderbird, you can conveniently have your mails automatically sorted. Read below how this works.
Thunderbird: Sort emails automatically
In order for Thunderbird to sort your emails automatically, you have to do a little preparatory work.
- First, structure your mailbox by creating subfolders, e.g. for a specific person, a project or for newsletters.
- You create a subfolder by right-clicking on the email folder and then selecting the "New Folder" option in the context menu.
- To have the incoming mails sorted accordingly, then open the application menu. You will find the corresponding button on the far right (see picture).
- Under "Filters" you choose the "Filters" option.
- How to make the sorting settings in the following menu can be read in the next paragraph.
Create filters in Thunderbird
The email clint Thunderbird offers you numerous options by which you can filter your incoming emails.
- If you have not already called up the corresponding mail folder in advance, you can select the desired folder in the pull-down menu in the "Filter" menu under "Filter for".
- Then click on the "New" button and give your filter a name.
- Then you decide under what circumstances the filter should be executed.
- When designing the filter itself, you have almost unlimited options. You can sort your emails by sender, as well as by date or the content of the subject line.
