Create tips for the screencast - you should pay attention to this
With screencasts, you can easily create videos with tips and instructions for your audience. We have also summarized some tips for you that will help you create a successful screencast.
You should keep this in mind when creating a screencast
Anyone can easily create a screencast with useful tips. Here are some things to keep in mind.
- Traceability: Make sure that each of the steps you show can be traced. You can achieve this, for example, through a supplementary explanation spoken over the video or through text overlays.
- Show mouse pointer / touch activities: Both on PC and on Android tablets you can display your mouse and finger input with a visual signal (see picture). So your audience always knows where on the screen you are with your mouse or finger.
- Post-processing: Even if a screencast is simply recorded, good post-processing is required in most cases. With programs such as iMovie or Windows Movie Maker, you can easily add your voice or use text overlays to clarify details.
- Select screen section: Ideally, you limit the section of the screencast to the part of the screen on which you want to show something. A lot of unused space in the video later becomes confusing for your viewers.
- Quality: To ensure that your screencast is well received, you should ensure that the video and sound quality are sufficient. You should record a video with a resolution of at least 1280x720 pixels (HD Ready). If you would also like to record your language, be sure to use a microphone that transmits your voice clearly and without noise. Podcast microphones are ideal for this. Here are some programs you can use to record speech.
- Planning: Do not just click on it, but think about what you want to show beforehand. The order and context in which you explain things is also important. The structure and process of your video determines whether viewers watch your video or not.
- Privacy: Don't forget to make private files, passwords or pictures unrecognizable. This is especially important if you present your screencast to a large audience.
