VLC: MKV video jerky - you can do that
If a MKV video jerks when playing with the VLC player, the computer is usually overwhelmed. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
MKV video jerky in the VLC player
If your computer cannot cope with the MKV video, close all other programs that are running. A short logout or a restart of Windows also clears used memory. In the following instructions, we show you how to reduce the quality to a minimum in order to avoid jerkiness.
- Click on "Tools" in the menu bar at the top and select "Settings".
- Activate the "All" option at the bottom left and search for the "Input / Codecs" category on the left.
- Under the "Video Codecs" you will now find the "FFmpeg" category.
- Select the option "All" for the item "Omit loop filter for H.264 decoding".
- Click the "Save" button and start the video again.
