WWW and the Internet
- WWW stands for "World Wide Web". The network refers to the collection and networking of all existing websites, such as //www.chip.de/.
- With a browser such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Firefox you have access to the contents of the WWW.
- Links to websites are used to link the World Wide Web.
- Often one means the same with WWW and the term Internet. Strictly speaking, the WWW is only part of the Internet, namely only the system of all websites. E-mails also belong to the Internet, for example.
- The origins of the WWW go back to 1989. A system was developed at CERN with which research results can be exchanged quickly.
- Today, the World Wide Web is much more than a collection of documents. Among other things, you can now shop online or communicate with other users.
